The Bill-to-Bill unit can hold up to three recycling cassettes, all operating identically. The recycling cassette is designed to store bills that can be reused and given back as change to the next customer. Designed with flexibility in mind, users can program which bill denominations are used in each recycling cassette. Each cassette's maximum storage capacity ranges from 80 to 110 bills, depending on bill length: the shorter the bill, the more can fit in the cassette. An integrated flash memory in each recycling cassette stores information on the number and denomination of bills it holds, preventing operating errors — for example, when a cassette is installed in a random position within the Bill-to-Bill unit. Bills can be dispensed manually by turning the plastic knob counterclockwise, one at a time. If a bill jams in the input slot, it can be easily removed without affecting the cassette's subsequent operation. Important: manually unloading bills reduces the physical count in the cassette but does not update the count stored in flash memory. A full content download is strongly recommended once the cassette is reinstalled in the Bill-to-Bill unit. A recycling cassette can also be programmed to function as a multi-bill escrow cassette.
